Here are the results of the mail-in vote that occurred across BC with as many senior boys' coaches voting as possible:

> > Motion #1 Expand to 4 Tiers: 84 in favour 50 opposed 63% in favour, needed 67%. Motion Failed
> > Motion #2 Equal Division Tiering: 83 in favour 50 opposed 62% in favour, needed 67%. Motion Failed
> > Motion #3 Non-teacher Coaches allowed to serve as directors: 94 in favour 37 opposed 72% in favour, needed 67%. Motion Passed
> > Motion #4 24 second, 8 second: 53 in favour 79 opposed 40% in favour, needed 51% Motion Failed
> >
> > Please note that the numbers don't match. Some coaches didn't vote for all motions.

What happened to "tightening up transfer rules" Lyle? Wasn't that one of the motions as well?

The tigthening up Lyle was referring to is a whole other issue. Howard Tsumura wrote a solid piece outlining the proposal that will be voted on at BC School Sports' AGM on May 7.

OK. It seemed to have been voted at the same meeting as the other resolutions, but had not heard the results of any mail-in vote. I suppose it goes directly to BC Sports...

It is a motion allowing non-teacher coaches to be directors. Of what, I'm not sure. The full title of the motion was not included in the message I received, and confused me at first too.

That Part 4 of the Consitution – Qualification to be a Director, be changed to allow nonteacher
coaches to serve as Directors of the Association

- A retired teacher, administrator, or community coach who was in good standing of
the Association at the time of retirement

Rationale: With schools relying more and more on community volunteers the
run high school basketball programs, it seems wrong that we would not want
to encourage and welcome our coaching colleagues from the community to
take part in our association as members of the Executive; if they are willing to
serve.

According to the AGM minutes posted here:

Thanks for that thehoodie. Interesting reading. The wording in Motion 5 is strange. It never addresses the fairness of the change made by the Executive, just says to disregard the criteria as a basis for appeals for single-berth leagues. It doesn't explain why an appeal process is unfair.

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the BC Boys Basketball constitution?
