| Not sure about the scores of all the games, but it looks like Timmins won in double OT against Sun Youth. Got it from a web site that the point guard's father runs http://www.timminstoday.com ... |

| I've seen Timmins play 5 times this year - Vincent is lightning quick and a deadly passer - his worst game was in the Soo against JC Richardson and he still had 22 against them. They should do well at OFSAA. You're from Timmins, what's the word on Ducharme?

As we have not played these teams and they have not played any of the other tournaments that we have played how close were the first three games? I just want to get a feeling as to our relative ability against these teams and areas! Did Ducharme play this weekend? |

| I can only speak to what I have read about Timmins - they crushed Fellowes and Kap and beat St Joe's of Ottawa in the semi 56-51. Ducharme did not play - still suffering from the injury in the match against you guys. Other results for the Panet tourney should be on the Pembroke newspaper site today or tomorrow. |

| From the Pembroke newspaper ....
The 10th annual General Panet Panther Classic basketball tournament has wrapped up again for another year. The event attracted 23 of the top basketball teams in the region and eastern Canada, with the centre of the action being Dundonald Hall.
Taking the prize as the top team of the event was the Timmins Blues, who defeated the defending champion senior Sun Youth team from Montreal, 72-70, following a thrilling double overtime match.
Taking the B Final was St. Paul Catholic High School from Ottawa, who defeated Kapuskasing 47-35. The C Final was won by O'Gorman High School from Timmins, which defeated Russell, Ontario's St. Thomas School 37-24. Crosstown rivals Fellowes High School and Bishop Smith Catholic High School were the only Renfrew County teams to advance into the playoffs, with Bishop facing the junior Sun Youth squad in the D finals.
After losing to O'Gorman 57-54, the Crusaders beat Englehart 59-51 and St. Francis Xavier 58-45 in turn, earning a place in the finals. There, following a closely fought game with the younger Sun Youth team, Bishop was edged 58-51 in the closing minutes of play.
After defeating St. Thomas 51-42, the Fellowes Falcons were knocked into the B pool by Timmins, who beat them 77-62. Fellowes bounced back to down Bayridge 61-50, earning a berth in the B semifinals. There, they lost a 47-46 heartbreaker to Kapuskasing, which ended their run through the tournament.
General Panet High School started out by losing to Nepean 63-33, then downed Englehart 57-30 before being knocked out of contention with a 63-34 loss to O'Gorman.
Opeongo High School lost its first game to St. Joseph 56-50, then defeated St. Francis Xavier 60- 55 before St. Thomas beat them 49-34.
Madawaska Valley District High School also lost their opening game, with St. Paul downing them 56-47. The Barry's Bay school turned around to defeat Deep River's Mackenzie High School 64-43, then lost a close one to Sun Youth 54-50.
The loss to Madawaska Valley was the last game for Mackenzie, which earlier were beaten by top ranked Sun Youth 81-29 and Haliburton 61-37. |
