1. Beal
2. Oakridge
3. Montcalm
4. Saunders
5. STA
6. Westminster
7. Central
8. CCH
9. Woodstock
10. Voaden
Woodstock can obviously hold their own, but apparently Westminster played the game against them syesterday hort their starting PG to injury. So based on a whole season performance, I don't think we can rate Woodstock any higher than ninth.
I'll say it one more time, I have no idea how Steve Green of the Free Press comes up with his choices for this 'Power Rankings'. I realize he includes the strong teams from Sarnia and Chatham as well, but as far as putting the London teams in any sort of order he clearly has no 'ground level' knowledge outside of Beal, Oakridge, and Montcalm. One day, he will have to be an actual member of the Press and exercise OBJECTIVITY in his work. I realize it's natural to gravitate toward the powerhouses, but then you miss the real stories of the teams that give them a run. Those teams 4 thru 10 are exciting to watch and can really push Oakridge and Montcalm - Central lost by 2 to Oakridge and CCH beat Montcalm and Saunders....meanwhile Saunders proved once again to be extremely tough to play against.
Even more exciting is the rise of Voaden and Woodstock. They make his 'Power Rankings' but to put them ahead of most of the teams on my list is just plain ignorant and lacks actual commitment to learning who is who in WOSSAA basketball.
Great season! And if you have other ideas of who should be ranked where.......feel free to post your own. These are just my objective choices. It doesn't mean they're right.
