I would like to congratulate seven young men from the Ottawa area for being selected to the U15 Provincial Team tryouts in Toronto this weekend (May 29 and 30).

They are:

Mike Quin - Ottawa Next Level
Idan Itskovich - Ottawa Next Level
Chris McComber - Ottawa Next Level
Dylon Goodyear - Ottawa Guardsmen
Roydell Clarke - Ottawa Guardsmen
Cory Johnson - Goulbourn Basketball Association
Mike Shoveller - Goulbourn Basketball Association

Having coached with/against some of these guys I have to say they made some great choices. Roydell and Dylon are fantastic players who have a high ceiling. The fellas from Next Level are no slouches either. Mike was a rookie from what I understood and from what I saw he was developing nicely. The coaches from Next Level and the Guardsmen are doing a great job with these players. Keep up the good work.

Have you seen Roydell play before? The kid can flat out score and plays great defense. He dropped something like 25 points on Scarborough in a tournament hosted in Ottawa. Scarborough at the time was the #2 team in the entire province for Minor Midget and they ended up winning Division 1. Roydell is revered as the Guardsmen's top player after Dylon.

Has anyone heard if any Ottawa guys made the team?

U15 Team Ontario names are up on the Basketball Ontario website now. Two guys from Ottawa made it, Chris McComber and Mike Quinn both from Next Level. I guess size is more important than skill.
