 VANCOUVER COLLEGE vs SAINTS - GAME 2 WEBCAST TODAY AT 7:30

PostSubject: VANCOUVER COLLEGE vs SAINTS - GAME 2 WEBCAST TODAY AT 7:30    Wed Feb 16, 2011 5:23 pm

The gym was packed for Game 1 at VC with VC emerging victorious 83 - 63 after being down by as much as 11 in the first quarter.

The teams square off again this Wednesday, Feb 16 in Saints gym at 7:30. Beyond the longstanding rivalry between these two teams, there is at stake a berth in the Lower Mainland Tournament on the way to the BC's. Expect a sell out crowd and rabid fans, cheering on their teams.

Grade 8, 9 and JV games precede the 7:30 matchup with the JV game starting at 6.

Get there early if you want to get in and check out some of the top Grade 8, 9 and 10 teams battling it out.

The game will also be webcast on www.sportscanada.tv

Very dissapointing to see that games in the Mainland seem to be getting more exposure when the meat of the Provincials come out of the Fraser Valley. Friday night will have # 5 Fox vs #7 Pitt as big a rivalry as Van College and St Georges but no thought to televise that game or the Valley's who have at least 5 top teams in the top 10.Very dissapointing

I agree totally. THe VC/Saints rivalry is not what it was so they should cover a better game. Maybe be something to do with trying to get two private school berths in the Lower Mainlands?

It seems to be a hype based on the old guard in the high school executive vs the new emerging teams. When the BC championships first started VC was one of the original foundational teams however many want to freeze time and pretend we have not advanced.

THe game is webcast for one simple reason; it is always one of the most exciting events of the season that neither gym has the capacity to accommodate all the fans that want to see it. With internet technology and the very reasonable cost of getting it webcast, the schools made a decision to webcast, so more fans could experience the game.

Last night, the gym was once again packed with many people being turned away. Many more that wanted to come, didn't make the trip to the school because they couldn't obtain the wristbands needed to get get in.

This has nothing to do with the "old guard", the high school executive or any bias toward either school. It was two top ten teams squaring off in a historical grudge match, with screaming fans in a packed gym. The game also included an incredible performance by the MEI (from the valley) high school marching band. It doesn't get much better and it is all great for basketball.

It's just basketball. Sit back and enjoy it and stop looking for ulterior motives and bias where none exist.
